Theatricality is a word that empowers in itself a range of different meanings within the art world and outside of it.
The reason why I am mentioning this word, which sometimes reveals itself slippery, is the fact that I understand it as a particular set of actions that are present in my work.
Theatricality in my work is related with a live stage that encompasses different layers of understanding related with live art, performance or even theatre.
I see it as a group of materials that are set together with one purpose that is the spectator. This dynamism that is found in a dialogue between the spectator and the work is in some way coordinated by me in order to establish a set of actions that will have as result the engagement with the piece perhaps in a more dramatic way.
Besides existing a constant re-enactment of how each work is perceived and understood by each person, the work invites the spectator to become active in a communal act of shared actions.
As result the artwork is shaped and recreated by each individual.
